Combat for Christ
Combat for Christ is a karate class offered by Pentecostal Revival Center to the community free of charge. It combines the basic martial arts principles of discipline, respect, and self-defense with Biblical principles and Scriptures to encourage the students to learn, grow, teach and inspire confidence.
The main focus of Combat for Christ is to put God back into the principles of martial arts. After some research was done comparing the Dojo kune (the martial arts rule book for class) to the Bible it was discovered that there are many similarities in the values of martial arts and in Christianity. Each of the martial arts teachings are connected to a Scripture which are used throughout the sessions.
The style of martial arts taught is a form of karate called, Okinawan Shorinji-Ryu Hakken-Ryu Jujitsu. It's a traditional martial art that dates back centuries. Its focus is a combination of punches, kicks, joint-locks, and submissions designed to allow oneself to defend themselves against an attacker of any size and shape.
Combat is not just a place where you can learn self-defense, it is a place where you will learn discipline and respect as well. While you learn karate you will also learn Biblical principles and Scriptures to help you be strong both in body and in spirit.
We encourage everyone ages 7 and up to get involved with Combat for Christ! Class meets every Sunday from 1:30-3:30pm and is free of charge.
"All athletes are disciplined in their training.
They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize."
